Cooking would become a fantastic way of spending time with the children may it be for babysitting, perhaps even spending time with the rest of your family. Just one week ago I created a homemade Italian kind of sauce together with the help of my very own twelve year old niece wherein we used one old family sauce recipe.

I never knew she loved to cook! This article includes tips on creating this whole experience a total blast:

Allow them to take center-stage. Which means giving them freedom to virtually do what they want to perform don’t let any child just stand around doing nothing and watching the grownup do the rest of the cooking.

Pick out a traditional family handed down recipe. Of course I picked Italian since we’re Italian. Plus this particular recipe was very easy & I actually put so much faith within my wonderful niece that she definitely can handle this.

Cooking this traditional and cultural dish also instills that certain being of importance & belongingness to any child. Including a hint of cultural heritage and this adds a greater impact on the recipe’s meaning & importance.

Compliment your partner- the kid. Give due credit to them. When I gave my wonderful niece due credit she felt that kind of pride and accomplishment, then she tagged a good friend along during her next house visit over at my house so that she would be able to transfer the skills of that particular recipe to her good friend.

Teach proper and safe techniques in cutting. Based on experience I’ve learned some basic don’ts when cutting vegetables like onions. Of course I also made it a point to clearly explain things to her on what I’ve learned through my experiences.

In this manner it didn’t appear as if I was bossing her around but rather was delivering it in a friendlier tone and sharing best practices kind of thing.

Ensure that kids would feel really comfortable. When I started cooking together with my wonderful niece I just inquired if there’s something that I’m capable of assisting her with especially when I felt like she started to struggle at some task.

Work alongside each other. When the two of us were starting to cut up some onions, wherein I directly stood just right next by her. In this manner, she would have the ability to observe how things are being done, plus I would also have the ability to supervise her ensuring if she held the sharp knife in the correct manner.

Maximize the learning; even if it would cost you the entire day although just keep in mind to avoid doing anything that would start boring you and the child. This would be one tough balance to maintain.

Since allowing the Italian-sauce to simmer would take so much time. There are even times that I cooked the Italian-sauce the entire night to ensure that they’re incorporated all of its flavors, of course I definitely didn’t do that kind of cooking technique with my wonderful niece.

When the Italian-sauce was slowly cooking, I also knew that it would be too much for me to ask her to stay so then I informed her that I will take charge in occasionally stirring the Italian-sauce in her behalf as well as arranging them inside containers.

The entire cooking experience resulted to her own creation of their very own dish, even if I helped in whatever kind of way, they would still be claim it as their own dish, the Italian-sauce which she created herself.

This cooking experience with my wonderful niece which was actually my very first cooking experience with a kid & I strongly recommend everyone to cook together with children because it could be fun given the right perspective.

7 Tips in Getting ‘Choosy Eaters’ Kid To Eat

7 Tips in Getting ‘Choosy Eaters’ Kid To Eat

It is a fact that most kids would choose what they eat. Usually they would overcome this certain stage, but it may cause certain frustrations most especially when it’s your own kid. Many questions would be formulated – Is it healthy? Does it affect their growth? Is there going to be anything else aside from mac & cheese? When no certain health concerns arise and they just appear to be really fussy, use these helpful tricks:

1) Create wonderful names intended for the dishes. Like call your dish Maria’s Magical Fairy Dust Noodles or Sparkling Butterfly Cheese-Sandwiches. Or some would prefer having dishes named like The Amazing Eyeball-Soup or even Greasy Messy Hairy Spaghetti. Anything that would work and as long as you don’t feel disgusted then stick with it.

2) Check out your kid’s favorite hero, cartoon character or sports idol on what kind of food they eat, and create that dish made just for your kid. Make a really huge deal, like taking pictures of what your own child is actually eating and make it feel like it’s an extra super special kind of dish.

3) Some are even successful in incorporating bits containing food which may offend the child’s ultimate favorite dish. Like putting in some grated carrots inside cookies, putting more fruit inside their yogurt cup, including raisins in their oatmeal, adding some hamburger mixes inside their mac & cheese.

Food which has been blended like how you’d make food for babies are easily hidden inside most dishes. Just be experimental and feel that creativity in you. When actually baking right from the start, feel free to remove half of those sugar contents inside cookie, muffin, cakes, granola recipes. Most of the times you have an ability of replacing oil using some applesauce.

4) Cut dishes to form shapes. Pancakes, veggies, fruits, cheeses, toasts, sandwiches – form them into really interesting shapes like simple shapes such as triangles, squares, circles, etc. also take advantage of cookie cutters. Inquire with your kid what kind of shape they prefer; may it be starts or hearts.

Create a wonderful plate presentation that would transform their plate to look so appetizing, always ensure that the foods don’t touch each one from the other! Since it bothers most kids. Invest in purchasing something new like a dedicated big-boy or big-girl bowl or plate. This might be one way to transform the dish look really interesting.

5) Kids love drinking smoothies. Simply throw in frozen fruits pieces like berries or strawberries creating that yummy blend, include in some bananas or other fruits that are fresh inside your blender together with orange juices or even milk, add in one fourth cup containing cottage-cheese. Allow them to help you create their smoothie drink.

6) When dining out, allow your choosy eater to sample out food inside your own plate. When taking one bite off your own plate and you’d start rating it right from one to ten, ten being the highest, your own child would have that curiousity and would desire to provide their very own special rating of your food. They find this kind of technique as one really fun kind of dare.

7) Use a scarcity technique. This worked well within the area of sales so this might definitely work well in your homes too. Create a reinvented looking dish, inform your own kids that these are only for grown-ups.

While everyone is eating in the dining table, ask the grown-ups to really praise and appreciate the dish that was created. When kids inquire and would request to sample the dish, politely inform them that this dish is only for the grown-ups. You would know you did a great job, when your own kid would really beg for it. Then politely and really convincingly share just a tiny amount of your reinvented dish.

These techniques don’t guarantee a fool proof way to work during all times. What is important though is the kind of attitude that you are giving to your own kids which isn’t really forcing and pushing them to really eat, but rather lightly encouraging them which is more important than anything.

Always keep a positive can do image and become a role-model for the kids during eating time. Eventually, but still without any guarantees, each child would slowly get off that choosy eating stage. I personally thought that my choosy eating toddler wouldn’t like anything than five dishes, and two were actually pizza, and now she is a really thriving and healthy teenager.

The 4th spot goes to hamburgers placed inside buns. Kids don’t like anything that’s fancy for their condiments. They dislike onions since onions are part of their dreaded yucky list. Kids just hate those onions & requests that you don’t put onions inside their hamburgers.

A little bit of ketchup would already be good for them. Make sure that each bun is really the hamburger kind.

While 3rd spot goes to hot-dogs. A little bit interesting that hot-dog is taking a lead over hamburgers but its not leading by much anyway. How each like their hot-dogs also varies. Some prefer to have some mustard, some prefer sauerkraut & mustard.

Some would just prefer ketchup still. No kid will really request for anything too fancy and definitely no cheesedogs as these are off their list because they think its yucky.

Taking the second spot is fried-chicken. A note to parents no need to attempt making one at your own home. Surprisingly they had a unanimous decision that Colonel-Sanders KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) & white kind of meat is the best fried-chicken. Plus they enjoy the side biscuit along it.

And taking the first spot is none other than the most well loved macaroni & cheese. No need for you to try creating one at your own home. Since they all agreed that it would only be Kraft Mac & Cheese. This dish wouldn’t be complete if there isn’t any ketchup on its top. You could barely see the mac & cheese because of all those ketchup smothered on them.

So that sums up the list of the most well-loved foods among children, but when your’re still having big problems in making your kids eat, then try out the other five on this list. At the sixth spot is pizza, seventh spot is given to peanut-butter & jelly, eighth spot is bologna, ninth spot is salami & cheese & finally grilled-cheese sandwich for the tenth spot.
